16U Freedom Takes One of Three at 18U Pontiac King of The Hill

The 16U Lake County Freedom 16U won one of its three games at the 18U Pontiac King of the Hill Round Robin on Sunday.

Strong starting pitching from Sara McConnell, and Randee Jackson and excellent relief pitching from Caitlin Moran kept the Freedom in every game they played.

The good starting pitching was supported by good hitting. The Freedom 16U team batted a solid .287 against 18U pitching which was good for the first games of the season.

While there are areas to work on such as better on field communication, handling cut offs from the outfield and improvement in bunt execution, overall the coaching staff is encouraged by the Freedom’s early play.

A tougher test awaits the team next weekend as they move on to play in the Naperville Queen of Diamonds ASA National qualifier.
