MINOOKA, IL; June 23, 2012. Katie Lang, from Eisenhower High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin, tossed a complete game whitewash over the Illinois Outlaws at the Stone City Sharks’ ASA National Qualifier Tournament. Lang shot down the Outlaws, allowing no runs and only two hits in her shutout victory. She also added two hits in the Liberty’s 10-hit attack. The Liberty got on the board with a run in the second inning and two in the third, before putting the game away with a five-run fifth.
Maggie O’Hara (Barrington) scored the first Liberty run in the second before Megan Milewski (Lakes) ripped a two-run double in the third. Following walks to Sara Kern (Wheeling) and Taylor Dunne (Cary-Grove), Lang, Tori Walzak (Palatine), Caitlin Sernett (Vernon Hills), and Erin Barton (Buffalo Grove) got consecutive hits in the Liberty’s big fifth inning. For the game, Walzak and Milewski racked up two RBIs each, while Sernett, Barton, and Megan Meline (Vernon Hills) each drove in one for Lake County.
