Freedom Players Becker, Mikosz and Moran Go Deep at BNGSA Qualifier

June 15,2013

Three Lake County Freedom players went deep this weekend at the Bloomington, Normal Twin City ASA National Qualifier.

Pitcher / CIF Rachel Backer ( Glenbrook North HS-2014) went deep in the 2nd inning with the score tied 2-2. Becker’s solo blast opened up a four-run 2nd inning. The Freedom never looked back winning by a final score of 12-2

Catcher / CIF, Nikki Mikosz (Wheeling HS – 2015) got her 2nd home run of the summer ( a Grand Slam) against the 97 Midland Magic as the Freedom trailed the Magic 0-3 in the 2nd inning to temporarily give the Freedom the lead. Unfortunately, Mikosz’s blast wasn’t enough for the Freedom that day as the Magic prevailed 8-4.

Pitcher / OF, Caitlyn Moran’s ( Grant HS -2014) home run was her first as a Lake County Fastpitch player and her first in 5 years. It came on a high change-up out over the plate. Moran hit the ball to left center which easily cleared the 200 plus foot snow fence. Moran home run was not quite enough as the Freedom lost the contest 3-4 to the BNGSA Angels.
