Davenport’s Dunne and Maves take home WHAC Weekly honors for softball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After hurling her first career no-hitter and posting six wins on the week, Davenport freshman Emily Maves has been recognized as the WHAC Pitcher of the Week and she is joined by teammate KC Dunne who earned the WHAC Player of the Week. The pair led Davenport to an 11-2 record while in Florida on their annual spring break trip which included two wins over NAIA No. 20 Bellevue and a 3-1 victory over NCAA DII No. 7 Tampa.

Davenport took home the top two spots in the first WHAC weekly honors for the spring sports as Emily Maves and KC Dunne were named the top pitcher and player. Maves posted a 1.00 ERA on the mound last week and picked up six wins while hurling her first career no-hitter against Lyndon State.

Dunne, who was named the WHAC Newcomer of the Year last season, got her 2014 campaign off to a blazing start as the junior hit .529 on the week while belting three homeruns and driving in 12 runs.

The pair will lead Davenport back into action on March 14 when they face Union University in Tennessee.
