The Lake County Freedom defeated the local North Platte Express by a score of 8-2 in their opening pool game at ASA Northern Nationals yesterday morning.
Randee Jackson, who was the winning pitcher for the Freedom, gave up no runs in 4 innings of work.
Solid defensive work by Nikki Mikosz and Kelly Jackson held off a late game charge by the Express.
Freedom pickup player, Rachel Becker, came in in relief of Sarah Platt with two on and two out in the fifth and got the third out to end the Express threat.
Sara McConnell got a two RBI single in the game
